Grandpa’s Garage

My grandpa has lived in his house in San Francisco for over sixty years. He was born in New York (you can read more about that here) in 1921 and moved to California with his mom in the 1930s. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II, and has always made a point of participating in the democratic process.

The south wall of the garage is devoted to mementos from past presidential elections. The other day I finally photographed them. It was something I had wanted to do for many years.

I started with the Kennedy poster, and upon closer inspection, realized that long ago, my mom and two of my aunts wrote their names in some white space on the poster itself. I had never noticed this before.
