Earlier this summer I was approached by the organizers of SF Zinefest to give a talk on the DIY aspects of the fashion biz. I thought, What to speak about? Writing as a freelancer for a major newspaper? Blogging? I certainly don’t design or manufacture clothing. After some reflecting I decided to talk about my first two years as a small business owner selling vintage clothing online.
I’m delighted and honored to announce an hour-long speaking engagement at SF Zinefest this coming Sunday, September 2. This is a totally free event in conjunction with the full weekend of zines, crafts and DIY taking place at the San Francisco County Fair Building (formerly known as the Hall of Flowers) on the edge of Golden Gate Park. I’ll be talking about what it’s like to set off on an adventure like this and sharing stories of the bumbles and triumphs that I’ve incurred along the way. So please come by and say hello! You might get a little crash-course in fashion history, too.
