Distant Cousins

Ah, the little black dress. So functional, so classic. Today I realized that there are two of those brand new to the shop as of this afternoon. They are both black dresses, however, that is pretty much where their similarities end. They are both from different eras, have different silhouettes, and would fit very different body types. Check it out…
 This one is from a private label for I Magnin. A classic 1960s (or late 1950s) cocktail frock, with a tulip skirt and some tulle beneath for added oomph and volume. Take a closer look here.
 My favorite part is the big bow in the front.
The other is an early 1980s Oscar de la Renta design that he did for Swirl.  It’s long, draped and billowy and ready for the disco.
